In UI design, white space is used to create visual balance and clarity in the design. It draws the viewer's attention to certain elements and makes the design feel more spacious.
By using white space effectively, we can create a sense of hierarchy and emphasis in our designs, so the finished product looks more visually appealing, but also effective.
One of my mentees asked me this question previously, but you don't need to follow any rules when it comes to using white space, so relying on your intuition and experience is the best way to do so.
It’s not a secret that white space is often neglected by designers who may be under pressure to cram as much information as possible into a space that is perhaps too limited. This can result in cluttered and confusing interfaces that are difficult to navigate.
Let’s look at this simple login form example.
You might notice that there is a lack of space around individual elements, as well as a lack of space around different sections.
